Furnishing of father's name not compulsory for PAN application

Draft notification proposing Amendment in the rule 114 of the Income-tax Rules, 1962, Amended Proposal Notification and Permanent Account Number Application Form (Form 49A and Form 49AA) - Inviting Stakeholders' Comments: -

In order to allocate a permanent account number (PAN) along with Rule 114 of Income Tax Rules, 1962 (ITRUL), application form number 49A and form number 49AA (PAN application) will be done. For the form).


At present, it is compulsory to present the father's name for allocation of PAN. It is proposed to amend the IT rules so that it can be ensured that submission of father's name will not be mandatory for a person whose mother is single parent. Apart from this, there is also a proposal to amend the IT rules to specify the time line for some people to allocate pan and apply for issuing pan.


In view of the above, a draft notification proposed for amendment in Form No. 49A, Form No. 49AA and Rule 114 of the IT Regulations 114 has been uploaded for comments from stakeholders on the website of Income Tax Department www.incometaxindia.gov.in and General public.
